Samsung has officially begun rolling out One UI 8, bringing transformative AI features and a strong security overhaul to its Galaxy ecosystem. Launched first with the Galaxy S25 series and now expanding to devices like the S24 line, foldables, tablets, and more, this update aims to make interactions smarter, more seamless, and notably safer. What’s New: Smarter AI & Multimodal Interactions

One UI 8 introduces a heavy emphasis on multimodal AI, meaning the system understands context across what the user sees, hears, and types.

  • Gemini Live: Enables hands‑free / screen‑sharing based AI conversations. Users can show what’s on their screen and communicate with AI without switching apps.

  • Now Bar & Now Brief: These tools provide at‑a‑glance info (traffic, reminders, health & wellness data) plus personalized suggestions (music, video, daily routine insights) based on usage.

  • Enhanced UX across form factors: For example, on foldables like the Galaxy Z Flip7, One UI 8 amplifies what can be done even without unfolding—FlexWindow gets richer interactivity, better integration of apps/widgets, and more glanceable info.

Raising the Bar on Security

With great AI power comes the need for greater security and privacy. Samsung has introduced several new and improved safeguards in One UI 8:

  1. Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP)
KEEP is a new security architecture that works with the Personal Data Engine (PDE). It isolates data per app, encrypting sensitive info so apps can only access their own stored data. This means features like Now Brief, Smart Suggestions, or routines based on your preferences stay protected.

  2. Knox Matrix
Expands threat detection across your Galaxy‑device network. If a serious risk is flagged—system manipulation, identity forgery, etc.—Knox Matrix can automatically sign you out of your Samsung Account and send alerts across connected devices. There’s also a dashboard (“Security Status of your devices”) to check and remediate threats.

  3. Secure Wi‑Fi with Post‑Quantum Cryptography (PQC)
To protect data in transit, especially over untrusted or public networks, One UI 8 upgrades Secure Wi‑Fi to use quantum‑resistant encryption. This helps guard against threats both present and future (e.g. “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks). Features like Auto Protect, Enhanced Privacy Protection, and visibility into what’s been secured are included.

  4. User Control & Transparency
Samsung clearly signals that some AI features can process data either on‑device or in the cloud, depending on user preference. Also, users are notified when devices are compromised, and given tools to inspect and protect data.

Device Compatibility & Roll‑Out Schedule

One UI 8 is already live on Galaxy S25 series and will expand to:

  • Galaxy S24 series

  • Galaxy Z Fold6 & Flip6

  • Galaxy S24 FE

Device models, region, and carrier may affect which features are available. Some features may require certain hardware (e.g. foldables) or that the user be signed into a Samsung account. Samsung Newsroom+1

Why It Matters & What Users Should Do

  • Better Experience: More intuitive, proactive features save time—less switching between apps, more understanding of your context.

  • Security First: With AI models becoming more integrated, the risk surface grows. Samsung’s MOVE toward encryption, threat detection, and user‑controlled settings helps mitigate this.

  • Longevity: For those investing in foldables or premium Galaxy models, One UI 8 means their devices stay current not only for features but for protections against future threats.

Conclusion

One UI 8 is a major step forward for Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem. It isn’t just about flashy AI features: the update puts serious effort into protecting user data, offering meaningful user control, and planning ahead to defend against future threats. For anyone using a supported Galaxy device, it’s more than an upgrade—it’s an evolution of how smart UIs should behave: proactive, secure, and user‑centric.
